Backstory

Hey there,

Thanks for taking the time to read about Early Morning Zombie and what this is all about. Essentially, I (Jeff) started EMZ to have a place to write about my interests and hobbies with more freedom than I felt I had on YouTube. What started as a place to express my interests, EMZ is slowly becoming a place for other writers to express their interests as well. In time, I hope that EMZ becomes host to a great team of writers, podcasters, and film makers that will bring great and original content to our fantastic readers such as yourself.

Early Morning Zombie (EMZ) is my own little corner of the web.  How EMZ came into being is an interesting story, at least, I think so.  A couple of months ago I realized that making videos for YouTube was great, but I wanted a place where I could be more expressive.  At this time I already had a blog, Brickwall Reviews, but it was a tool for my YouTube channel and didn’t allow me the free range that I wanted, nor did I much like the connotations of Brickwall Reviews.  It was great if you were familiar with my YouTube username of BrickSh0t7.  I realized that it was time for a change…

Now you might think that coming up with a blog name is an easy task, but it is quite difficult.  I wanted a name that reflected my interests, hobbies, and most importantly, one that reflected me.  I went through a slew of names, most of them some iteration of tech and coffee, but they either gave a name that didn’t make sense, didn’t reflect me, or they were already registered.  After a few days of searching for the perfect name, it came to me.

It was a typical morning, the alarm went off for the third time and I knew it was time to get up and get my ass in gear so I could go to class.  As I laid in bed I remarked to myself, “I feel like a zombie today.”  I envisioned myself walking straight legged towards a cup of steaming coffee when it hit me, I am an early morning zombie.  It was perfect.  It reflected me, and I could make the site whatever I wanted to.  The name didn’t pigeon hole me into anything allowing me to write about anything.  I rushed into the office and looked up the domain, as luck would have it, it was available.  So what has taken so long for EMZ to be created?  Well, school picked up at that point and I didn’t have much time to spend on my hobbies.  With the little time I did have I used code from around the net and Thesis forums to build a website that I am proud of.
